Kinesiology Adjunct Professor Armin Weinberg, Ph.D. was honored on December 10, 2013 with the George H.W. & Barbara Bush Collaboration Award at the C-Change 15th Anniversary Celebration and Annual Meeting.  The George H.W. & Barbara Bush Collaboration Award recognizes an organization or individual that possesses the following attributes:

Armin

   •           Sees greater potential and value in working together than in isolation

   •           Focuses on the success of the group, not the individual

   •           Pursues success by connecting individuals and facilitating relationships

   •           Secures opportunities and resources to further C-Change efforts

   •           Promotes C-Change’s work in other forums

Dr. Weinberg, PhD, was the inaugural winner of this award and has been a member of C-Change since its inception.  He has served on the Board of Directors and countless committees.  He chaired the Annual Meeting Committee for many years, as well as the Access Team.  Currently he co-chairs the Disparities Advisory Committee and its steering committee for the Geographic Intervention Project.  Dr. Weinberg is tireless in his efforts to connect us to other individuals and organizations who share common interests with us, many of whom are now active in C-Change initiatives.

The George H.W. & Barbara Bush Collaboration Award was given as part of the four “C-Change Hidden Heroes Awards”.  According to the organizations’ description of these awards,

“Everyone who gives of their time, expertise, resources and influence on behalf of C-Change is a hero and inspiration to us. This year, the C-Change Board of Directors is recognizing four individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to furthering our work as Hidden Heroes.”

Former West Virginia Governor Bob Wise, Chair of the C-Change Board and President of Alliance for Excellent Education, presented the award to Dr. Weinberg during the 15th Anniversary Luncheon on December 10, 2013.

Along with being an adjunct for our department, Dr. Weinberg is also the CEO of Life Beyond Cancer Foundation, a Clinical Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, and the co-founding Chair of the Intercultural Cancer Council.

Congrats to Dr. Weinberg!
