Major: Philosophy
Taylor Montgomery is a Sid Richardson College Senior majoring in Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology and Philosophy. She has always found an interest in the human body and knew she wanted to pursue health care as a career from a young age. After taking Anatomy and Nutrition her freshman year, Taylor knew that majoring in Kinesiology was the journey for her. Taylor is a Rice University-UT Health Scholar and has started an accelerated Masters of Public Health at The University of Texas School of Public Health this year. Her interests in Kinesiology, Philosophy, and Public Health intersect to form her prospective career in Bioethics. She hopes to one day consult in public health policy and with biotechnology companies on the ethics of healthcare interventions and how they interact with varying demographics.
Her favorite part about the Kinesiology program is the diversity of thought within the department and the community it provides. Every student and faculty member has such different perspectives that they bring to the classroom every day to provide an enriching experience on the subject of health.
Her time at Rice has been spent as captain of the Rice Owls Dance Team, a member of the Rice University Alzheimer's Buddies, and as a Diversity Facilitator. Her club interests show her passion for diversity, exercise, and holistic care within medicine. Back home, Taylor works as a dance teacher for young girls and boys. In her free time, Taylor loves to paint, read, and do yoga.
Taylor is immensely grateful for the opportunities the Rice University Kinesiology Department has provided and their role in achieving her goals.
