Hunter Smith is an honor student-athlete at Duncan College, majoring in Health Science with a minor in Medical Humanities. Her interests in health sciences include epidemiology and disease prevention.
In 2022, Hunter interned with Pfizer pharmaceuticals as Project Manager for the Global Medical Community (GMC). She analyzed GMC's webpage user experience and engagement; created product cards for pharmacists to develop and dispense Pfizer drugs; and researched and analyzed health disparities. Before joining Pfizer, Hunter assisted Dr. Cho of MD Anderson Cancer Center with clinical trials. She recruited and interviewed patients for cancer research, professed health assessments for trial participants, and ensured physicians access to medical records.
Hunter remains actively engaged with the campus community. You can find her serving the campus community when she is not practicing or competing on the Women's Swimming Team. Hunter is an Ombuds for the Honor Council and the Swim team representative for the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC). You can find her outside the pool biking, cooking, enjoying nature and its beauty, and binge-watching episodes of Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit.
Hunter's time at Rice has increased her interest in public health and fueled her passion for ensuring health equity and accessibility that she plans to pursue a Master's and Ph.D. in Public Health as she works to remove barriers to health disparities.
